How I Make Cute Essential Oil Roller Bottles!

How I Make Cute Essential Oil Roller Bottles

I posted a few pictures on my Instagram and Facebook recently about these cute bottles my daughter and I have been making for gifts, and I had SO many questions and lots of people contact me!  So I thought I’d put all the info here in case you have questions, too.

Machine

We have a Cricut Explore Air 2 (affiliate link), which is a vinyl cutting machine.  Any vinyl cutting machine will work, that is just the one we have, and we LOVE it!  We can create artwork from either the laptop, or my daughter can do it from her iPad.  If I make something on my laptop, I can save it to our Cricut Design Space ‘cloud’, and she can open it up on her iPad if she wants to print what I’ve made, too!  It has Bluetooth, so it’s nice because we don’t have wires all over the place.

Artwork

For our artwork, we use different cute fonts we’ve found.  There are lots of free fonts at dafont.com, and my daughter has even found some cute fonts and even graphical elements on Canva. (On Canva, you have to create the artwork, download it, then upload it to your Cricut Design Space, or whatever designer your vinyl cutter uses.)  Another place I love finding (paid) fonts is Creative Market.

If I’m just doing something with a font (and no graphical design elements, such as a shape), I can install a new font I’ve found on my computer, and then Cricut Design Space can pick it up so I can use it right in the designer.  If I am doing something WITH a graphical element, I will make the design in Photoshop, then upload it to Cricut Design Space.

Vinyl

I have been loving the Cricut Gold Glitter Vinyl for our bottles!  Another brand of vinyl we love for projects is Oracle, we’ve purchased it from Amazon.  (I’ve only bought iron-on Oracle vinyl, so I don’t know what their glitter vinyl looks like in person!)

Bottles

The bottles themselves have been one of the most fun parts!!  They look mermaid-y, and they’ve been perfect for the projects we’ve worked on!  We purchased these bottles on Amazon (affiliate), and they are adorable in person.  I will say the rollers are a little stiff when you first begin using them, and they need several good uses before they start to loosen up.  Ahhh, the price to pay for a cute bottle, ha!

Recipes

I thought I’d add the recipes for the 2 rollerballs shown above!  My daughter made the ‘Bliss’ rollerballs for a Christmas party she had for some girlfriends over break.  They are 11-years-old, and she decided she wanted the rollers to smell like a Root Beer Float, ha!  Isn’t that what every 11-year-old wants to smell like?!  We used 5 drops of Stress Away and 5 drops of Wintergreen, and we filled the rest with carrier oil.  These are highly diluted.  :)  But they smell JUST like Root Beer!

For the ‘Joy’ rollerballs, I used 5 drops of Joy essential oil and 5 drops of Orange essential oil, and again filled the rest of the bottle up with carrier oil.  They smell awesome and are especially great to use on these freezing, gray, cold days we have been having!  It’s like sunshine in a bottle!  ☀️

I think that’s about it, if you have a vinyl cutting machine, it’s really pretty simple and straightforward!  It has been a fun little activity for us to do together over break!!  Now I’m obsessed thinking about what other cute things we can come up with.  😉

If you still need essential oils, you can get your own starter kit here!!

Drops of Joy Diffuser Necklace

I love the concept of essential oil diffuser jewelry, so when Sara from Drops of Joy Jewelry reached out to me to see if I would like to try one of their new designs, I was more than happy to check it out!

They have a new stainless steel pendant called ‘Devoted’ that she sent for me to try, and I have to say I LOVE it!

If you’ve never used essential oil diffuser jewelry before, you might not know how it works!  Basically there is an area on the jewelry where you can put a drop (or more) of essential oil, and the oil will diffuse throughout the day so you can smell it.  In the case of this necklace, it is like a locket.  You simply open the pendant up to reveal a small leather pad, which is where you put your drop of essential oil.

diffuser pad

I have been obsessed with Young Living’s Valor essential oil blend lately, so I have used that exclusively on my necklace the past few weeks!  I didn’t used to like the smell of Valor, but I cannot get enough and think it smells like blueberries.  :)

One of the things that I found to be different about this diffuser necklace is that the pendant is really nice and heavy, and the back of it is flat.  As such, it rests against your skin, which in turn heats up the pendant and helps it to release the scent of your essential oil!

There are many days where I catch a whiff of it and unconsciously pull it closer to smell!  I was showing my friend my necklace at Bible study the other day, and later out of the blue she said, “Man, you love that thing, don’t you?!”  I was like, “What do you mean?”  She said, “You keep on smelling it!”  Ha!!  Busted!  :)

The length of the chain I received was 22″, and I love it.  Here is a picture off my phone I tried to take, ha!

I find myself wearing this necklace all the time, even with my other jewelry (as evidenced by the photo above!).  I just love being able to smell my essential oils throughout the day.  I wear it clear up until the time I go to bed.  As a matter of fact, when I am leaning over to kiss my kids goodnight before bed, they always ask if they can take another smell of my necklace.  :)

This necklace did come with a couple other replacement leather pads, but so far I have only used the one.  One drop of essential oil lasts an entire day, and sometimes into day 2 or even 3.

The beauty is that you can change the essential oils you are diffusing daily if you’d like to!

All in all, I LOVE this necklace and am so happy Sara reached out to me to see if I would like to try it.  Essential oil diffuser jewelry would make a GREAT Christmas gift for someone, too!

Essential Oil Diffuser Jewelry

First, did you know essential oil diffuser jewelry is a ‘thing’??!!  When I first heard of this, I was super intrigued!  After I realized it actually is a ‘thing’, I started looking into some different options.  I’ll admit when I first started looking, I thought I would find a bunch of practical-but-not-cute items.  This is so not true!!

So when Amanda from Sugar Bottom Creations contacted me to see if I would like to try a necklace, I was thrilled!!  She actually sent me two beauties from her Etsy shop!  They are so trendy and stylish, I love them!

First, I just love cute packaging.  :)  And this is how this first necklace was packaged…

diffuser jewelry

The first necklace is a super-cute pendant with a piece of leather behind it, which is where you add your oil.  The jewelry design is open so the fragrance can come through.

She said you just apply 1 to 2 drops of oil to the back, to the leather piece of the necklace.  I use Joy oil on mine!  After the scent wears off, you can use a different oil if you’d like.  I use 1 drop of oil when I wear this necklace, and it lasts a couple of days.

I love that randomly throughout the day I get a waft of my Joy oil!!  If there are any oils you regularly wear on or near your neck, chest, or heart, a diffuser necklace is a great option!!

And I absolutely LOVE the look of this next necklace!  It’s super stylish and feminine.

Inside the locket, there is a leather circle where the oil goes.

I use one drop of oil when I wear this necklace.  I do apply a new drop of oil every day to this one, I think because the weave of locket isn’t quite as open as the first necklace, I need to add oil every day to smell it.  Such a cute necklace.  :)

I mean… can we say stylish and functional??!!

Glass Droppers for Your Essential Oils!

Hi again!  I’m so excited about my newest find, I just have to share with you!

Glass droppers

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I have a hard time getting out just the right amount of essential oil from my bottles.  It usually doesn’t matter if I get an extra drop or two, but if it’s an oil we are using for internal use, I like to be as precise as I can.  :)

I know an extra drop certainly won’t hurt us, but I want my bottles to last as long as they can!

Young Living sells glass droppers, but when I called, they said the droppers were too long to store in the bottles, and therefore could not be used as lids.

But then I found these babies at Abundant Health!!  They make one for the 15ml bottles and one for the 5ml bottles.  The rep told me that the glass is a little long for the 15ml bottles, but just to push the dropper up into the cap a bit for it to fit as a lid.  The droppers for the 5ml bottles fit the Young Living bottles perfectly.  :)

Here are the links to the droppers at Abundant Health:

They come in packs of 6 and are so reasonably priced.

One Thing to Remember…

The rep said the one thing to remember is that the oils can eat through the rubber bulb at the top.  So as long as you store your oils on a flat surface, you can use the droppers as lids.  But if they will be tossed around (like in a purse/bag/etc), your best bet is to stick with the regular lid.  Just a little FYI.  :)

I Love These Things!!

For the oils I use regularly, I just love using the glass droppers over the regular orifice.  I even have a blend that I use on my little guy every day (some V-6 plus a couple of oils), and it is so darn convenient to squirt out 4-5 drops and rub it on him, rather than making the mixture every time I use it on him.

I am easy to please, folks!  These droppers are fantastic.  :)
