How to Dilute Thieves Household Cleaner

How to Dilute Thieves Cleaner

I must admit, this is embarrassing.  When I purchased my Young Living Thieves Household Cleaner, I was so excited to begin using it.  I could not wait to throw out my cleaners with harmful ingredients!  But you know what??  It sat under my counter for probably 2 months!!  Why, you ask?  Because I didn’t know how to dilute it!!

To be fair, there are instructions on the back of the bottle, but they are in ‘parts’, as in 1 part cleaner to 30 parts water.  When I tried to look up info on ‘how to dilute Thieves Cleaner’, everything was talking about ‘cap fulls’.  Well how much is 3o cap fulls equal to?  Clearly I could have pulled out some tablespoons and some teaspoons to see just how big a ‘cap full’ was and done some fancy math, but that always got pushed to the bottom of my to-do list, which is why my bottle of Thieves Household Cleaner sat unopened in my cabinet for 2 months!

One day I actually looked at the big spray bottle I had purchased for diluting my cleaner, and I realized it had OUNCE markings on the side!  DUH!!!  Wow.  I really can’t believe I am admitting this publicly, haha!  Anyways, USE OUNCES!!  Like 1 ounce of cleaner to 30 ounces of water.  I almost didn’t do this post, but just in case someone out there has a bottle of unopened Thieves cleaner under their sink…

Remove Your Jamberry Nails Naturally – With Young Living Lemon Oil!

Remove your jamberry nails naturally

A few months ago, I went to my first Jamberry party – have you seen these?  They are these wraps that adhere to your nails that are supposed to last 10-14 days.  If you get them on right, they totally last that long!!  You end up having to remove them just because your nails grow out!!

To apply the Jamberry nails, you heat them with a blow dryer or small heater, then you press and smooth them firmly onto your nails.  There is an adhesive on the backside of the wrap that adheres to the tops of your nails.

How Do I Remove Them?

Of course once these are adhered to your nails, the question becomes how in the world do you get them off?!

Jamberry suggests soaking your nails in nail polish remover to get them off if you have worn them more than 10 days (which I do!).

I don’t know about you, but nail polish remover (even the non-acetone kind) leaves my nails and cuticles so dry and awful-looking.  So when I was looking for an alternative, I had read a few different options.  One talked about soaking them off with olive oil, another mentioned soaking them off with water and lemon juice… so I thought, “What about olive oil and lemon oil?!”

Young Living Lemon Oil

Young Living’s lemon essential oil is FANTASTIC at dissolving adhesives.  It’s awesome at getting stickers and tags off of pretty much anything.  I knew it could dissolve the adhesive on these wraps.  I combined it with the olive oil so I didn’t have to use my whole bottle of lemon.  :)

oil and lemon

Recipe and Method

I had a small bowl and poured enough olive oil to soak the tips of our fingers in (both my daughter and I had them on!).  I probably used 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil.  Then I added 10 drops of lemon oil.  From there we simply soaked our nails for about 2-3 minutes!

soaking

Once we thought they were sufficiently soaked, we went nail by nail finding the loose edges on our wraps.  We continued to rub the oil under the broken seal of the wraps until they came off.

Back to Natural Nails!

The process can be a little messy, so just have a paper towel under your bowl, and remember not to PULL the wraps off, just let oil dissolve the adhesive.  After about 5-10 minutes, the wraps were all off, and our nails were undamaged!!

Simply rinse in some soap and water to remove the oils.  Our fingers were nice and moisturized when we were finished!!

Remember that lemon oil is part of the starter kit!

My August Essential Rewards Order!

August Essential Rewards

Woo woo!!  Love it when my new order arrives every month!  This month, as usual, I had to replenish a few favorites and I decided to try a few new things, too!

Peppermint

Ahhh… peppermint.  Never leave home without it.  Enough said.  :)

Thieves Waterless Hand Purifier

I bought the 3-pack of these since I send a bottle to school with both of my kids.  Love this stuff.  I have it in the car and my purse, too.

KidScents MightyZyme

I give one of these to each of my kids every day.  It helps to support normal digestion, and I always keep extra on hand!

NingXia Red

My husband and I take this daily, and I do give it to my kids occasionally as well!  It’s cheaper per ounce to purchase the NingXia Essential Rewards Pack, but I only needed a couple of bottles to hold us over until our next ‘bigger’ order.

Meadow Mist Deodorant

This is new for me this month!  Many people love this deodorant, so I thought I would try it out this month!  It smells really good, and the texture is nice and smooth.  :)

Balance Complete

This is new this month for us, too!  We were looking for a protein powder recently and decided to try this. Update!  This is AWESOME!!  We love Balance Complete, and we will definitely order this again!

Thieves Fresh Essence Mouthwash

Another new one!  A mouthwash made with the famous Thieves oil blend!

Eucalyptus Blue and White Fir

These oils were FREE with this month’s promotion!!!  :)
